I love meeting activity directors at independent and assisted living residences. I share some of my quilts and a short summary of each of the 5 talks I like to share with their residents. The world needs a bit more laughter and joy after the past 2 year isolated due to Covid-19. I am pleased to offer to share my quilts and stories with residents and their families and friends.

Grammie's Slice House - 2007
My first talk is "Getting to Know Linda." I talk about my relationship with my grandmother, what an inspiration she is to me, even today. I talk about my relationship with my sewing machine too. This talk is very interactive. I want the residents to think about who they may have inspired or who inspired them. These are topics that they may not have thought about in a long while. I also ask them what they spent hours and hours doing that they just loved. I'm sure there are artists, novelists and hard workers in the audience. I want to trigger some fond memories. I give homework too! I ask the audience to share a person who they inspired or who inspired them with someone at dinner that night.
I continue my talk with examples of how I transformed from a traditional quilter to an art quilter. I enjoy sharing how my quilts are full of memories and most of them do not lay on a bed.
